Music Review: Red Disc of Proxima by Tallow

categories: Music, Tallow

I picked up this compact disc for a very low price, not having a clue what it was, but intrigued by the possibilities. Now, it is one of the most treasured items in my rather extensive music collection. I would recommend this release to anyone who is a fan of the following releases:

- Crowbar's 'Obedience Thru Suffering', or any early Crowbar
- Helmet's pre 1991 material
- Soundgarden's pre-1991 material
- Early Kyuss, possibly Slo Burn (more S.B.'s demo material than the E.P)
- Bloodlet's 'The Seraphim Fall'
- Infester's 'To the Depths ... in Degradation'

This album should appeal to anyone who appreciates the following elements:

- raw recordings
- rough stoner-rock / metal
- unrefined grunge, or any form of organic rock / metal
- slow hardcore punk
- doom (sludge), akin to that of New Orleans' Crowbar

I truly value this release and know that many will also. PICK IT UP! You'll be able to get it for cheap because no one knows what a gem it truly is. Enjoy.
