TV Series Reviews: Beauty and the Beast - The Final Season with Linda Hamiltoncategories: Movies & TV, Fantasy, Television, Beauty and the Beast
Enchanting From the Very BeginningThis is such a wonderful not-well-known TV series! The world below of Vincent's and the world above of Catherine's is wonderful! BUY IT! You will not regret ever purchasing this fabulous series!
What Every Woman Wants...Romance is hard... and it's SO necessary. What happens to Vincent and Catherine in this series rides the crest of every romantic idea. His voice, her smile, his reticence, her endurance ...it all ends badly for them and it should not have. They should have been given their happy life. [by Rusty RedNightBird]
The First Two Seasons Were the Best! The show began as a modern urban fable with "Once upon a time in the city of New York..." and seasons 1 and 2 fulfilled that promise, with the transcendent love between Vincent and Catherine front and center. Lightning flashed across the screen whenever Vincent and Catherine were together. The writing, casting, sets, costumes - everything was done with superb craftsmanship. The episodes reward repeated watching, and two decades later, the show supports a small but vociferous fandom.
The third season? The network forced the producers to change the direction of the show, to make it more like "The Incredible Hulk," with more violence and action and less romance. It betrayed the essence of the fairy tale, and fans fled in droves. [by Jo]
Left Me Wanting MoreI am such a "Beauty and the Beast" fan, so much, that I named my daughter after Catherine. For any true romantic, this whole series had it all. The pure romance between Catherine and Vincent, what woman wouldn't want what they had. Listening to Vincent was like listening to the sweetest music ever heard and he gave me such an appreciation for the many old great books of literature and poetry. I've listened to others read the same poetry, but none can do it like Vincent/Ron Perlman.
This last season was WAY TOO SHORT and it didn't give me closer to the whole series. I wouldn't have minded if something had developed between Vincent and Diana, hey, if something happened to me, I would hope that my hubbie could fall in love again. It was strange to me that they made the LAST two episodes more about Father, should have been more about Vincent.
