One of the Best Movies Ever MadeSo many of the reviewers have written exactly what I believe about this film. A week ago it came out on television and it was the second time I've had the opportunity to watch it. I was about to change the channel when I remembered the depth of the story and made the right decision to see it again. I, too, wish it were on DVD as I would like to share it with my grandchildren. A remarkable cast and wish that Julie Gholson had found other films to star in. A truly gifted actress.
First Run Avery CountyWhile only eight years old at the release, I remember the film's first run well. Filmed in Avery County, NC, the release of "Where the Lilies Bloom" had us all at the theater. All of us Avery County natives. What a big deal. I'm glad to see this great film has not been forgotten. Many people I knew played extras. One of the extras, a woman with nearly grown children died before its release. Her family would sit and cry during the film, seeing it over many times for the last glimpse of their loved one.
