Garage Door Opener Review: 41C4220A Sears Craftsman Liftmaster Gear & Sprocket Assembly Kit by Chamberlaincategories: Home Improvement, Garage Door Opener Gear Kit, Chain Drive Chamberlain, Liftmaster, Craftsman, Sears, Master Mechanic, Wayne Dalton, Garage Door Opener
Garage Door Opener Gear KitWhen my garage door broke I was afraid it would require expensive repairs. I found out this Liftmaster model has a plastic gear that commonly wears out. However I was able to order a replacement garage door opener gear kit online. It was inexpensive and I installed it myself. If you want to try it, be prepared for a weekend project. The kit comes with excellent assembly instructions. You must follow them carefully. I needed an hour to remove the broken assembly and another two to three hours to install the new mechanism.
So if you have lots of money and not much time, go ahead and pay a repairman $100 or more to do it for you. Local retailers might offer this item for about $60 but you should be able to order it online for a third of that cost. You can save a lot of money and have the satisfaction of fixing it yourself.
