Book Review: Fade to Grey (Fade to Grey Trilogy 1) by Brian Stewartcategories: Book, New Release, Virus, Intense, Walking Dead, Fiction, Zombie Thriller
Brian Stewartabout this book: In today's zombie crazed world, it's difficult to find a well written, intelligent thriller that will have you turning pages all night long- until now. Fade to Grey is the new fiction release from Brian Stewart, a first time author who "wrote" the entire project using speech recognition software. Intelligent characters you can relate to, intense action sequences, and a story driven plot that magnifies with each passing chapter until the epic conclusion. Enter the world of Fade to Grey, if you dare.
So it began on a cold winter evening in 2008. I was toying with an idea about writing a book about bears for children. My wife, drawn to my mutterings and non-verbal expressions of my frustration with my (lack of) typing ability, said, "Honey, you're a bad writer, but you're a wonderful story teller...
Fast forward about five years... Fade to Grey is the creation of Brian Stewart, a middle Tennessee author who, in hopes of never having to type again, finally took his wife's advice and began to experiment with his computer's speech recognition software in the fall of 2012. Through a long, and sometimes difficult process, Fade to Grey was molded, shapes and sculpted, sometimes with a delicate brush, other times with a large hammer, into what is now the zombie thriller of the year.

Surprisingly good, and not just for zombie fans either..This was a "meh, why not" purchase for me, and I've got to say it was well worth it. For a first time author, it's even more impressive. So, the good- very strong and enjoyable characters (and reading other reviews this seems like an "across the board" similarity, so we couldn't all be wrong! Easy read- won't bog you down in unnecessary trash speeches or useless descriptions. Definite upward curve in intensity and story and plot... the further you go, the further you want to go. Now, there are some people who see the word "zombie" and think of Dawn of the dead or hard-core flesh rotting drive in movies, but I think Fade to Grey is more akin to books like Outbreak, or Patient Zero, so it's worth the read even if you're not a "zombie" fan.
The not good- not really anything that I can can put my finger on, except maybe that it's only available as an ebook so far- no paper version yet.
Oh, and I really like the cover artwork, creepy enough to draw you in and good enough to hold you there. [by Cole Skylerson]
