Robert John DeLucaabout this book: As a novelist my stories typically originate from either of two sources (1) my business career, or (2) the raising of four sons. "Justice for a Texas Marshall" arose from observing of the ebbs and flows of my own boys as they ascended through high school in a small Texas town not unlike "Justice" in the book. They all played football, if not particularly well, under coaches who had little time for kids of average size and ability. Under today's standards these coaches would be unquestionably be labeled bullies.
In this story I have created a unique young man whose penchant for getting into unusual (and often amusing) predicaments in the end delivers a greedy coach his just due. "Justice for a Texas Marshall", the first of a planned series, is intended for the Young Adult market, although it will appeal to kids of all ages.
Marshall Morris is a member of the football team in his senior year of high school. When the energetic young man discovers that the hard-liner coach is accepting cash kickbacks from a college booster, he is determined to expose him through a series of oddball and amusing situations. Things get complicated when Marshall's best friend falls for the coach's daughter. The epicenter of high school social life a local pizza joint where the pies are terrible, but the fun is max. Marshall's best laid schemes to attract female attention consistently fail, until after a goofy incident he unwittingly hooks up with the brainiest girl in the senior class. In the final game against their bitter rival Justice builds a big lead. A perfect season is minutes away. when everything unravels. In the scant remaining seconds, only Marshall can save the season. Does he succeed? Unfortunately, no one can save the devious coach.
