about this book: The title is acerbically sarcastic. The book is a novel but not a conventional one. It follows the story of Roger. The primary focus of the book is on world events, both in the near and distant past and also events within the country with targets both big and small. Religion throughout history is another main focus. As one might expect from the acerbically sarcastic comment at the beginning of the description the commentary is not flattering. The book is a work of fiction but regarding these topics there is a straightforward analysis of them that people are free to disagree with. In terms of the main story of the book Roger wanders the streets at night, and he keeps finding that they transform and all the people disappear. One night he happens upon a bench with a man sitting on it who informs him that it is his job to read stories to him after which he will kill him. Roger goes along with this without trepidation. The short stories that are read to him appear in full within the book and are not directly connected to the events of the story. The reading of the stories and killing him is something.mandated by "They". But who exactly are "They"? The book would appeal to people with an interest in history and world events who do not insist on viewing it with rose colored glasses. Someone who is not put off by the exposing of faults in terms of the actions of the United States and religion throughout history might also welcome reading it. Those who believe America could never do any wrong and any critical assessment of religion is sacrilegious blasphemy that should be condemned should probably stay away. I pull no punches in the book and nothing is sacred or spared.
