Leona Samsonabout this book: Altogether, it took three years for me to complete "Community of Ones." I started writing it a year after I lost one of my children to suicide. At the time, I had no idea that I would one day publish it. I began writing the story because I could think of no other way to deal with the grief, despair and confusion that were a constant part of my life. It took me almost two years just to finish the first draft, but the process was transformative – writing "Community of Ones" was a deeply healing experience for me. I started telling others about the book and was surprised when many of them expressed a desire to read it. Only then did I begin to do some serious editing and revised the book to its final form.
Here is what one reader emailed me about the book and my heroine: "I read your book, and felt completely involved in Lia's life, her confusion along her journey, her (non) decisions…... Nothing seemed forced. You allowed her to grow at her own pace. This book should be read by everyone."
