Janie De Costerabout this book: In The Midnight Hour is a romantic yet drama-filled novel that also shines a light on domestic abuse. Carmen Inez finds herself in an abusive relationship with a man who promised her a life of stability. Instead, he gave her a daily dose of abuse. With little money and a four year old Carmen knew she had to find the courage to leave. If not for her sake, for her daughter's. Unlike other stories which focus on women, my novel takes a look at the other victim which could be the male as in Cyncere Redmonds' case being the recipient of his wife abuse. His wife Kelly has him mentally twisted by her constant disappearances which causes him to worry about her well being. Their marriage is plagued with arguments and turmoil with Kelly being the one who is mentally as well as physically absent. So as you can see abuse can be physical as well as mental. Either way, this is a deep dark and painful secret that must be exposed and the victims protected. And also much needed help for the abuser.
