J. Carol Johnsonabout this book: Carla, an young interior decorator, refurbished movie theaters owned by the very wealthy, Roy, who was overwhelmed by her talent and beauty. This job led to a marriage that took her into the depths of the shady organized crime of pornography.
As she redecorated the mob boss's Hollywood mansion his elaborate wife introduced Carla to other lonely, neglected wives. She found that the mafia shielded explicit sex, murder and mayhem only to later become ensnared by two rival mafias. Due to Roy's domination and infidelities Carla found love with another man-- a cop who had his sights set on her husband.
The ongoing conflicts set Carla onto a path to escape Roy's control. While fighting for her sanity she wondered if her political friends would intervene. Or would a knight on a white steed save her?
Or did Roy just dig her grave?

The Lonely Life of a Pornographer's WifeThis is a very exciting story! It sounds so true because I recall having heard about some of this in the past. It made me think that it's a cross between The Godfather and Fifty Shades of Grey. It's interesting that Johnson set up the story's format in the first chapter to show how dysfunctional a family Carla came from. The beautiful woman raised herself above her hum-drum blue collar background to learn a great trade only to be caught up with, and nearly destroyed by, a porno mafia. Her husband, Roy, reminds me of JR Ewing from the old "Dallas" TV series. Ouch! This is a page-turner and a must read, especially for women. [by Lady Jane Davis]
