Christy Nicholasabout this book: In 1968, Julie was searching for adventure. What she found instead was herself, alone, pregnant and in a foreign country. She had some very tough decisions to make.
Follow this tale of a search for love that takes 30 years to complete.
This book is based on the true story of my parents' love and loss. It was such a powerful tale, it inspired me to start writing novels, just so the inspiring tale could reach more people. It took me about three months to write the book, but about two years to edit and get it sold to a small press publisher. I did the cover design myself, and wanted to portray star-crossed lovers.
The hardest part of writing this book was sifting out the fact from the fiction. My parents' didn't always remember details. Where they could, I included them, but there were many gaps I had to fill in. Then I had to make the story actually flow like a novel, but in the end, I'm glad I put the work in. This is not an era I am highly versed in (1960s) so I had to do a lot of research, but that part was a lot of fun!
