Amanda Steelabout this book: The book is about Kayla Marshall and family as they reunited fourteen years after Kayla was kidnapped. It deals with how they all cope with her return and how she struggles to come to terms with the fact that the people she thought were her parents had bought her from her kidnappers.
I came up with the title after I realised the theme throughout the novel dealt with a lot that Kayla missed with her real family while she was gone.
I think many of my readers would be women but the novel has a few sub plots which might appeal to other people.
I came up with the idea after wondering what it would be like for one of the children often reported in the news as missing to be reunited with their real family years later as an adult. The idea grew from there and the characters were all affected in their own ways, because people can have different reactions to the same situation.
