Sharon A. Lavy

Author Sharon A. Lavyabout this book: I wasn't very old before I learned my best way of communication was the written word. I learn buy reading, over and over and over. Then if I still don't understand I can work with a teacher. I didn't grow up as one of those children with an imaginary friend. So I've always been honored that Birdie trusted me to tell her story.

When I started writing Dreaming of a Father's Love I knew three things.

#1. Birdie loved her father very much.

#2 She didn't feel his love, instead thinking her preferred her older twin brothers.

#3. Her whole life focused on working in the family business and earning her father's love.

I don't want to put any spoilers in this information. But I will say I've learned so much about life, right along with Roberta (Birdie) Alexander, as we wrote this book.

Many nights the characters revealed things to me and I set straight up in bed exclaiming "I never knew that." Of course I had to get up and trot out to the office and jot some notes before the scene was lost back into the magical place where dreams come from.

When it was time for the cover the publisher was excited to find a photo online that with just a bit of tweaking fit one of the turning point scenes in the book. The night Birdie and her part time employer explore the old mansion.

Since woman are the primary purchasers of novels, it comes as no surprise that the target audience for Dreaming of a Father's Love is women. However grown men have stated that they appreciated the story, even if it made them … well, not cry of course, but just tear up a bit. So perhaps it would be advisable to keep a box of tissue close as you read.
