Valerie Douglasabout this book: Growing up, Felicity, the daughter of a US marshal and his eldest child, learns how to shoot to provide food for the table. When her father is murdered in front of her eyes she straps on his guns and hunts down his killer. Honoring her father, she brings two to justice, but the third fights back. When she kills him, the hunter becomes the hunted. Unable to return home, and limited by the conventions of the time, she agrees to an unusual contract.
A tale of the old West, The Sharps Shooter is a thriller, with strong romantic elements, as Felicity tries to evade her pursuers.
The story, Felicity and her fight to stay alive, the men in her life, was fascinating. As was the research, the weapons, the clothes.
And does it not have a GREAT cover? I gave the basic storyline to the cover artist, and he did a brilliant job.
The hardest part for me as a writer, was that I tend to love all my characters, and sometimes bad things happen to good people.
