Ken Colemanabout this book: Avenging Star is the sequel to The Star Girls and continues where the previous book left off.
Sisters, Star and Namid, which is Cheyenne for Star Dancer, carry on their quest to find the man who ordered the slaying of dozens of Cheyenne women and children at Goose Creek Oklahoma in 1879. They seek to avenge, not just the Indians, but also their mother who was travelling with the Cheyenne at the time of the massacre.
Before the final confrontation, the girls face many dangers during their perilous journey, during which, they are joined by an aging gunfighter, a middle aged woman and an out of work horse wrangler. Together they accompany the girls on their quest to seek revenge on the killers of their mother. However, because of the sisters' calamitous life style and their proneness for getting themselves into perilous situations, their travels never go as planned and they face adversity at every turn before they finally face their enemy with brutal and violent consequences.
The book cover depicts a scene early on in the book where the ageing gunfighter is confronted and threatened by the girls because he happens upon one of them as she stands naked, showering beneath a waterfall.
