Magnus Hansenabout this book: Inspired by the Volsung Saga, Shadow of the Werewolf is a horror story set in the Viking Age. In 950 AD, an Irish doctor finds himself stranded on an island off the coast of Sweden. He starts to hear rumors of wolf attacks - deadly attacks. The villagers believe the wolves are acting unnaturally. In fact, it seems there is something else in the woods, something that walks on two legs...
The murders cause an uproar in the small town. With accusations flying, the chieftain orders a hunt - but wolves aren't the only thing the Norsemen need worry about. A dark creature is walking among the wolves...watching, waiting. Only the careful observations of an Irish doctor, a man who has studied the ancient texts, understands what is happening. But the villagers' greed blinds them, and so they push further into the dark forest...to their doom.
However, Birka is a town of industry. From the fisheries, copper mines, and lumber yards, men come to make their fortunes. Dangerous men. As industry spreads further into the dark wood, they awaken a great evil. One by one, powerful men are torn apart. With accusations flying, the Irish doctor must find a way to slay the ancient beast that walks amongst them.
