 A Learned Visionary

Col. Herbert was a man's man. A honorable human being, and should have imposed his strategy on the entire effort in Vietnam. The rest of the actors, the cast of characters from West point, studied Sun Szu and Clausewitz and must have been asleep in class. Col. Herbert learned the strategy the hard way, by experience. His book stands up with the great ones. WE are making the same mistakes in Iraq and Afghanistan. The West Point crowd goes along, they decorate each other, and the same old crap and mistakes are perpetuated. Whats up with that? We must clean house now! [by "D" Co 3/503 173rd Airborne Brigade 1968]
