Phoebe Matthewsabout this book: Dying of a heart condition, 18 year old Georgia decides to try living as a vampire. She travels to a town rumored to have vampires, finds one who does turn her into a vampire and then disappears. There is no instruction book, no other vampires around to question, and Georgia is left with screaming hunger until she meets a friendly human. And then her troubles really begin, because she knows she can accidentally kill him.
Why did I write this novel? With a group of friends I visited a town in Washington state that has been made famous by bestselling vampire novels and movies. The town now features gift stores and other tie-ins. My friends and I had a great time and discussed experiences a girl might have with a very different type of vampire. I was already writing two other urban fantasy series, none with vampires, and decided to send off my ideas for a vampire series to a publisher who specializes in fantasy and science fiction. To my delight, the publisher got back to me immediately and the result is the four book Turning Vampire series.
I made a YouTube video using the cover of the first book. The cover was produced by a very talented cover artist named Amanda Kelsey. When the publisher sent me a copy to approve, all I could say was, "It is perfect! I love it!"
