Terrance Croomsabout this book: Darkside Streets is my first attempt at writing a short story. I've been writing for fun many years now & I'd like to see if I can produce a unique, entertaining story. It's fiction but the story is loosely based on my crazy life. The reader is taken for a quick journey from my days growing up in Jersey City, to joining the Army during Desert Storm, then back on the streets trying to make a quick buck. In between all of this, I managed to get a job working for the local police department where I'm still employed to this day.
My creative influence was "After hours" by Judge Edwin Torres. The style of his writing & gritty grimness had me hooked! I tried to place the reader in my shoes & hopefully I achieved that. If I get positive feedback from this project, then I feel I can invest the time to write a novel length story with more colorful characters & intimate stories in detail. I also tried to inject a little dark humor for a twist.
