Janie De Costerabout this book: I wrote When The Vows Break because I wanted to start a conversation about infidelity that happens in our churches and with people of faith. There appears to be a double standard when a minister falls from grace. Sometimes their 'Sin' is discounted or swept under the rug so to speak. If the person holds a prestigious position, they may have the comfort of knowing there would be followers standing by their side in spite of. And when the infidelity threatens a marriage in this sanctified world, there are even more obstacles to overcome whether the marriage survives or end. When a minister cheats on their husband or wife, it not only affects their spouses, but their congregation will suffer as well. Some may lose members which in return may cause financial problems, not only for the church but personally as well. At the end of the day, the individual who has cheated will also have to take a hard look at themselves, taking full responsibility for their downfall. Some may choose to seek out help and become a better and stronger person. I want the reader to put themselves in the characters shoes and weigh each experience while forming their own opinion. As they do, also remembering we all are human and make mistakes even people of faith.
