about this book: Elfblood actually started life as a short story that I couldn't make work. I had two different openings that I was trying to decide between and suddenly it hit me that what I really had was two different stories. This is one of them.

It's the first book in a trilogy about a young man searching for a lost elven magic that can save his world. Elfblood is also about secrets and how you never really know another person, no matter how close you are. Because sometimes, you don't even really know yourself.

Secrets never stay secret. Everybody has something to hide and some secrets are more shocking then others. Being an orphan is hard enough, being an elfblood makes everything much worse. The young man in this book has to try and keep his own secrets while contending with those belonging to the people closest to him. Add to that an enemy he knows and one he never suspects, an irritable sprite, a lost magic, and a mad king bent on starting a world war, and life gets more than a little complicated.
