Claudia Silvaabout this book: This short story is about belonging. It all started with a dream. I dreamt I was in a strange house where a strange young woman with the voice of a child kept telling me I should leave. The strange young woman is one of the few characters based on someone I know, which is special somehow.
The title is what I wondered all the time I wrote the story. Why can't the main character stay? As I wrote the story everything became clear and I knew why I couldn't stay. It all fell into place.
I wanted the cover to have the strange house where the main character arrives, and I wanted her to be just a regular girl, even when she holds a great secret inside.
This is a book for all of you who feel you don't belong. Sometimes, everything is in our heads, and we just have to change on the inside to fit in... sometimes, like the characters in my story, something greater than yourself stops you from calling a place home.
