Author Daisy Darlene Combsabout this book: This book is about me. A young girl from Ohio who graduates high school and moves to California with the love of her life at 18. I was living a life that I could never have imagined. I unknowingly befriend a monster. But didn't realize it until April 2018 when the Golden State Killer is arrested and identified. His identity turned my life upside down. I came to know that there was a statute of limitations on rape. That this monster had raped 50+ women including me. However none of them counted anymore. The rape kits and the evidence of most of the 50 women have been thrown in the trash years ago. My experience with the monster was different. However after undergoing a comprehensive background check on myself to prove my timelines, employment, rental agreements, school records and signed affidavits from people who had met Joseph James DeAngelo with me. And after numerous emails and filing a report online with the Sacramento sheriffs department. There was never a response. Coming forward with my experience was difficult for me. Rape is a dirty word. I knew that writing this book my family would read it and I have two sons I knew at some point they would read it. This is my first attempt and my first publication of any kind. I stumbled through it. So don't expect a well polished novel. This was not an easy decision for me. But rape should never disappear there should never be a statute of limitations on rape. I knew that if I had the courage to step forward other unknown victims of Joseph James DeAngelo might find the courage to step forward as well. And it's working. There are others. And I believe their stories will be told as well. For any woman who has survived violence of any kind my advice is to stay strong and to never stay silent. Daisy Combs
