Dave Englishabout this book: What would happen if toys suddenly started talking about the past? What they had seen and why they had been so quiet for so long. Those moments that we've all spent wondering about our childhood and how it affects us today. Some of us ask questions, others not at all. This short fictional story is based on one of those toys who decided to share the secrets he'd kept over the years.
The story is based on what I've heard over the years working with children of all age groups. Teaching is about listening and understanding the silences.
I want the readers to stop and think about what is good or bad in a parent, child relationship. I want them to understand that the secrets that their children share with apparently lifeless objects is a need that we too often forget.. The cover was chosen to show that despite the sadness and the pain there's always a ray of hope waiting behind an open door. Or is it something darker than before? I'll let the readers decide.
