John J. Gallagherabout this book: The book is about a professional golfer's experience of the yips during an important international tournament. He returns to Australia after the US tournament & decides to escape the hoohar of the press by disappearing to a country town & take on his alter ego of a painter. He is asked to judge the local annual art competition & through that becomes aware of some of tbe local intrigue involving divisions in the forthcoming council elections & the forthcoming golf championships. He meets up with a young golf hopeful who hopes to beat the local power broker in the championships.
Forthcoming mayoral elections, an amateur art competition & the golf championships bring out to what lengths the mayoral candidate will go & brings excitement to the little country town.
I was inspired to write this book as I'm interested in golf & the strong influence of the mind in the game. This book will not only interest golfers of all standards but will give tips about the mental aspect of the game. Non golfers will be interested in the intrigue of the story.
I took about 18 months to write this book although had a break at the weekends. The cover was designed by Ebookit's staff & I was thrilled with their suggestion. The title was of course the type of game involved in the local tournament featured in this book. I don't find writing novels a tedious task as I have a background of meeting deadlines in the many years I wrote for television.
Although a successful amateur golfer I have in my younger days been a professional international soccer player. Born in London I traveled to Europe then New Zealand with my soccer career but decided to follow up my writing & developed an interest in golf when I came to Australia. With my golf, I have held a course record & have been club champion in different clubs on several occasions. I developed a great interest in the mental side of sport & most of my research for previous books has been on the mental aspect of all sports.
I feel many readers will enjoy this book as it has aspects other than golf. It is a book that has intrigue, relationship trials, & what it takes to be a champion. Enjoy the read.
