Dave Carrollabout this book: This Novel is set in medieval times where sword and sorcery are interwoven with fast paced intimate battles. The main character 'Chromelius' is a skilled swordsman and travels the lands hiring out his skills to enhance his wealth.
His main advantage is his 'gift from the Gods' that allows him to slow time during battles, affording him a great advantage as his speed remains unchanged.
In this first story, Chromelius rescues a kingdom from an evil curse. The kingdom is under frequent attack from several monstrosities below the castles well.
During this adventure, various creatures from Greek Mythology are encountered and described in gory detail.
I was inspired by recent popular films and TV shows, Lord of the Rings, Game of thrones, Spartacus and , to be honest a few good computer games, Demons Souls and Dark Souls. I love the excitement and fury of close fighting and the clashing of swords and shields.
I enjoyed writing the book all the way through, I did struggle a little with the last couple of chapters to bring this adventure to conclusion, the final ending came to me Christmas morning (very early) 2012 so I got out of bed and spent a few hours completing the novel while my family were still in bed.
I have tried to ensure every aspect is realistically researched, mostly from the various internet history sites. Purists will be pleased to see that the planning and application of the 'world of Chromelius' are accurately researched and portrayed with a healthy respect to ancient records.
I am still new to writing and this is my first novel with my previous work focussing mainly on short stories. I really enjoy writing and was not phased by the length and scale of this action adventure.
I started by capturing all my ideas down on a word doc. and preparing an index of the chapters and events as they unfold, this was the skeleton of the book so I then just needed to add the meat to the bones.
On the same Doc I would remind myself of all the characters names and intentions so even if I left the writing for some weeks, I could easily pick the gist back up and continue to add value.
I'd really like people to enjoy this concept and character as I plan to build in its success and produce many more accounts of Chromelius and his adventures!!
