Book Review: The First Dragoneer (The Dragoneers Saga) by M.R. Mathiascategories: Book, Dragons, Magic, Adventure, Elves, Sword and Sorcery
Not badThis hold the promise of an epic fantasy novel to come. The descriptions are detailed, the story line is solid. The only thing holding this back from being very good are some minor editing issues.
"Bald-eyed giboon" The characters bandy the phrase about a bit too much. I know it's supposed to be a common derogatory remark, but 7 times in a novella is a bit over the top.
Also there are some incomplete sentences and some that just don't make sense like: "It would take them a full season to fly there, most of the journey over the sea."
There are just little things that a good editor would fix. It's not enough to destroy your enjoyment of what is shaping up to be a good series if this novella is any indication. [by Martha]
