Steven James Foremanabout this book: Maggot is a derisory name given to a weakling born into a warrior society. An outcast from his village, he is recruited by a wizard to go on a dangerous quest to recover a magic chalice. The reasons for this unlikely choice become clear in the story, but to give them here would be a spoiler. Maggot strives and struggles to complete the terrible journey, but is aided at stags by the most unlikely of allies.
This novel is for "Young Adults" (YA)... especially great for kids entering their teens... but adults will enjoy it too.. No bad language, no sex (sorry lads!), but a lot of swordplay and blood. A sword & sorcery quest tale filled with memorable deeds of bravery, selfless determination, courage and unassailable love, set against a background of war, magic, betrayal, bloody conflict and great tragedy. The story is populated by a huge cast of diverse and unusual or unique characters, including heroic warriors, fantastic creatures, evil beings, huge monsters, and unexpected and comical allies. There are good times and bad, great failures and glorious triumphs. I would never dare to compare this story to the classic The Lord of the Rings... but I think you get the idea!
