Author Cindy A. Christiansenabout this book: This book surprised me!

Years and years ago a heard a news story that really disturbed me. I just knew I had to adapt it into a book. This is a mystery but every time I tried to have the amateur sleuth try to discover clues, it just didn't work. Then I remembered an experience from my own life that turned this story upside down — have the heroine uncover the mystery without ever trying. It was a shocking revelation.

Dallas Mae Jenkins is fleeing her abusive husband who will do anything to find her. After wrecking her truck and horse trailer, she ends up stranded on a dairy farm. With everyone's strange behavior, she realizes she's not out of danger yet.

Tom Allred manages the top dairy in the Utah. He finds himself helping a woman he wants absolutely nothing to do with. The mere presence of Dallas' horse drags up nightmares from the past, and he wants her gone. That is, until he realizes she's stolen his heart. When someone starts threatening Dallas' life, how can he convince her she should open up and tell him the truth?

Both Dallas and Tom help each other realize that you can run, but you can't hide.

What I really love about this book is that I have had a lot of positive reviews from men. You have to have that down-home country mentality to really appreciate these characters. My brother may have been partial, but he said it was better than any Zane Grey he'd ever read. Thanks, Randy.

Here's what another male reviewer had to say:

• "Fascinating tale of the misfortunes of a woman desperately trying to escape a difficult life; only to find herself in another very trying situation. With only one ally, hers is a struggle to overcome many obstacles to find freedom and safety for herself and her horse. This is a great, well planned story that will attach itself to you and will not let you alone until you have completed its reading." — Gary F.
