Mary Gregory Dillard

Author Mary Gregory Dillardabout this book: Myra Bartram cannot imagine the direction her life will spin when her husband dies doing a good deed in "Where the Maypop Grows." She loses her will to live and is saved by a homeless man. Still unable to face reality, she flees Baton Rouge and smashes head-on into a life of uncertainty in Atlanta, Georgia, where she meets Dr. Rich Udall and his house guest Mitchell Vandyke.

Mitchell, a hard-core felon, is writing a suspense novel about the crimes he commit and when Myra confronts him about his table manners at a restaurant, when soup is spilled in his lap, she becomes his heroine and his enemy.

Myra is hired as a police sketch artist and when she sketches a picture of Mitchell, she is horrified but she alters the sketch and lets him go free because she believes she is prejudiced. But crimes against women continue and she finds herself sketching the same face--Mitchell's. She is petrified. She stalks him and he lures her into some of the smuttiest scenes on the Southside. And when the plot becomes a deadly game of cat and mouse, she ends up in some dark alley in Spice Valley--and her whole life crumbles.

Mary Gregory Dillard writes about what she likes most--the people who live in the south. It is this rich southern culture that motivates her to create novels about style, landmarks, and southern hospitality, that has provided the setting for her novels, which consist of suspense and soft romance for an audience of 16 and above.

A retired teacher, she likes to paint compelling portraits of people, places and circumstances anywhere in the world.
