about this book: Eight senior citizens who have all had open-heart surgery play poker every Monday night, all of them retirees who are just looking to live in peace in their twilight years. Their surgery scars all look like zippers, hence the name The Zipper Club. When they learn that their property taxes are going up by forty percent, they decide to start asking questions. That's when they and a young TV news reporter uncover a deadly scheme to intentionally drive down property values so an unscrupulous developer can gobble up properties and flip them in a deal worth a hundred billion dollars. The senior citizens use the skills they learned before their retirement years to do their own investigation as to what's going on. The corruption runs through the town government officials and goes as high as the U.S. Senate. The developer and his right hand man will stop at nothing to complete his land grab, including toxic dumping, bribery, and murder.
