I Cried the First Time I Read This BookYes I said cried; I couldn't stop myself. My father and grand father were in the Navy, I was a midshipman at the time and my dad gave me a copy when he left on a float to the med. It gathered dust for awhile, but I have to tell you from the first page I couldn't put it down. I laughed so hard it hurt, I laughed so hard I cried. My dad was a Mustang and had skippered a Mike Boat before he was commissioned; I could see him in my mind as I read about Captain Fatso's adventures.
God Bless the Adm. Gallery for putting back into the hearts of young men the desire to go to sea that was lost with the protesters of Vietnam. Fatso may not have been Horatio Hornblower, but he was Americas next best thing.
