about this book: Known as Tabrobana, Serendib, Ceylon and by many other names, this ancient island carries 125,000 years of human history, 3500 years of archaeological history and 2500 years of recorded to the present time. I was motivated by my passion for this island, presently known as Sri Lanka, to write this tome of 676 pages containing over 500 illustrations, tables and maps during a period of seven years involving intense research in the island itself, South India, Portugal and London. My history commences with the geological formation of the island, its earliest inhabitants, evolution of the flora and fauna, and takes you on a fascinating time travel, ending with the recent end of civil war and soon after. Having become highly successful and recognized on its own merit, the book was presented by the Parliamentary committee of Sri Lanka to the Common Wealth Secretary, and has now proudly entered into its 2nd edition.
My book is ideally suited for any reader seeking a holistic picture of the island, including its past glory, heritage, resources, political progress and the origins of the present ethnicity. I believe this book will also provide an understanding of the current events in Sri Lanka
