Hopeless MessIf "Half Empty" is half-empty, here's what's missing: a coherent ending, likeable characters, and original material. The ending: a conflation of two previously published short stories. Likeable characters: I guess you write what you know about. Original material: virtually all the book was previously published, except for the opening alcoholism shtick which is dropped all of a sudden when the older stuff kicks in. What "Half Empty" is full of is empty words surrounding real personal emptiness. This is therapy, not literature.
