Sybil Powellabout this book: East Beach is story of a retired naval officer Rob who inadvertently gets caught up with an infatuated fifteen year old girl and separately with a nymphomaniac rich woman Rose who own a luxury cruiser. It is not all that it seems as Rose is under the control of a sadistic thug but together they use the cruiser to smuggle arms to terrorists on the continent. Rob and Rose's paths cross at a marina on the south coast when she seduces him but she must be careful to hide it from her thuggish business partner who can become extremely jealous and is murdered by her. As Rob get to know Rose he becomes suspicious of her smuggling activity. Later he confides his rising fears to the police who ask him to join Rose's crew to find out more which after some consideration he does only to get too involved which lead to Rob being shot and a desperate Jenny much more mature by this time helps in saving his life. The story is interwoven by activities at the local sailing club and Jenny's desire to marry Rob.
