Rayne Hall

Author Rayne Hallabout this anthology: Edited by April Grey, this anthology contains heart-wrenching, enchanting, disturbing and funny stories about animals.

Cats are center stage, and you will also meet dogs and birds who are not what they seem.

Contributing authors are Mark Cassell, Carole Ann Moleti, Steven Van Patten, Anya Davis, Amy Grech, April Grey, Yurika S. Grant and Rayne Hall.

The writers told stories inspired by their personal experiences and their vivid imagination.

The book is part of April Grey's anthology series: Hell's Garden, Hell's Grannies, Hell's Kitties - all featuring supposedly peaceful characters and locations with unexpected dark twists.

In the story 'A Feline Familiar' by Rayne Hall, an old unwanted cat gets returned to the cat shelter because her new owner doesn't want her. Black cats get abandoned more often than other colours, and are less likely to get adopted, because many people find them unattractive or harbour superstitions about bad luck. Old cats also get mostly overlooked, as adopters prefer to take a young cat home. Being old AND black AND rejected, this cat's chances of finding a home are slim. But she has a special talent that changes everything.
