PJ Dunnabout this book: It all began when a young emancipated slave, whose story I relate in my previous book, named Scooter, became a street urchin in St Louis. To survive Scooter discovered he could earn a small amount of money by dancing and entertaining of the street corners of the city. Scooter became a very popular attraction on the street, and was liked by everyone. He was befriended by a beat cop by the name of Mac O'Hara. Mac helped Scooter to bring to justice a carpetbagger con-man who had stolen all that Scooter had received from an inheritance. Scooter then partnered with Mac to open and operate a local night club called the High Cotton Club. The club was a great success, but Scooter and Mac faced many adversities and overcame all. Mac eventually retired from the St. Louis Police, married his long time sweetheart, and together they bought their dream home.
A former partner of Mac's at the department, Wallace Jarrett, came to Mac asking for help with a strange murder case. This is where "A Season of Revenge" picks up the narrative of what was thought to be a single murder, but bodies began to accumulate. The case is then called The Mound City Serial Murder File. The case leads toward occult involvement, and makes several twists and turns, including the kidnapping of Mac's wife Ella.
A Season of Revenge is a fast paced mystery/thriller that on occasion left even the author wondering 'what was going to happen next.' Volume one of this thriller leaves the reader with answers, but also more questions.
