Cynthia Readnowerabout this book: Each of us is largely a by-product of what we were taught growing up, the type of family we grew up in and the views that were formed when young. I had the opinion that my family was extremely boring; we didn't go places, rarely went out to dinner and didn't go on vacations. You can imagine how tough it was to wake up one day and realize that deep secrets lay beneath the foundation and that everything that I thought I knew about my family was suddenly turned upside down.
My mother used to allude to something she wanted to tell me about my father and his sister. Knowing that my mother and my aunt didn't really get along, I put it down to "sour grapes" and didn't think to ask too many questions. She passed away before she could tell me.
Googling my last name brought an avalanche of information that started a journey of discovery of greed, murder, and sex that was as far reaching as Hollywood and Washington, D.C. Based on a true story, it is the process of bringing secrets into the light and the affects it had on examining absolutely everything I had ever known and finding out that my family was actually quite scandalous. It took ten years to finish.
