Jule Owen about this book: Silverwood is the second book in The House Next Door Trilogy. It continues where The Boy Who Fell from the Sky left off, with teenaged scientist, Mathew Erlang, stuck at home because of floods in London. Set partly in 2055. It brings to life a version of our near future might look like, including the good - advances in technology, and the bad - the impact of climate change. Mathew's mother is working round the clock to keep her job, his father is dead, and he is isolated and lonely, looking to friends online, his neighbour and her piano student and his cat to fill the gap. That us until his mother falls ill and Mathew finds himself to be the only person to advocate and fight for her. Silverwood is a time travel novel, so Mathew can venture even further into the future, to give us a sense of the world towards the end of this century. It is both an exploration of possible futures based on sound sources, and a page-turning adventure story.
