Gary M. Martinabout this book: Special Agent Candace Caine is instructed to take a woman in for questioning. Other agents were with her when she made the stop. It was supposed to be a simple task. Instead the agents turned on her. A gunfight ensued. A young man in the other car stumbles out of the passenger side. He seems confused and disoriented.
When sirens are heard in the distance the lady and the agents leave. Miraculously Agent Caine suffers only a minor leg wound. She finds the young man who doesn't know who he is and cuts through the woods to another street. She calls her boyfriend who is a local detective.
Spending a night in a hotel until she can figure out what's going on, her boyfriend, Detective Jackson reveals that he has certain psychic powers. In his mind he has seen a peculiar tree in a park. He knows that it is important and that they should explore it.
The young man gains his memory and reveals some unique features about himself. Together the three of them head out to find out what's going on.
This is a science fiction novel that involves the fate of a town and perhaps much more.
It is the second edition of Nexus which is no longer in print. This is a much clearer edition and includes a different, less predictable ending.
