Pamela Schloesser Canepaabout this book: Undercurrents in Time takes place at the turn of the century (Y2K) with our characters, Milt and Tabitha from Detours in Time. It is now two years later, post time-travel. Milt and Tabitha have eased into life together and have settled down, starting a family of their own. Time travel showed them they belonged together, but Tabitha wasn't prepared for a family this soon. Her life has become a daily battle with dirty diapers, crying spells, and maintaining her own energy. What happened to the independence she once loved and the plans she had for her own life?
Milt is busy with his own plans, trying to ensure financial security for his family and researching a powerful weapon they both discovered in 2047 along with the man responsible for it, an enemy neither he or Tabitha have yet met. He knows Tabitha is having a difficult time but feels like he just needs to give her patience and time. Meanwhile, their marriage is become frayed at the ends. Will he understand what Tabitha is about to do?
Tabitha's decision to "get away" is more than a weekend excursion with the girls, as time travel is at the forefront of her mind. She dreams about their discoveries in the future. When she sneaks away with Milt's time travel vehicle, she has no idea what she will find this time in the future. Never could she suspect the danger that awaits her. How can she get back home and return to being a good mother and wife while maintaining her own identity? How far will she and Milt need to go to prevent a future tragedy that they know is bound to happen?
If you like stories of adventure, speculation about the future, internal struggle, and female warriors with a hint of romance, this story is for you. Time pulls us like an undercurrent; sometimes we cannot control it but can only respond the best we can.
