Paul Emeryabout this book: My third novel is a return to Science Fiction. It follows fourteen-year-old Princess Maya, third in the line to the throne of the moon Laran. She has little, if any, confidence in her looks or abilities, and is happy to be out of the spotlight.
On the day of a parade to celebrate peace with long time adversaries Ezna, she elects to stay behind and work with her tutor. That decision saves her life, as her family is assasinated in cold blood. It also propels her to the throne.
Maya must now deal with the death of her dad, brother and sister, plus ensure the group behind the assasination do not re-ignite the war. Not knowing who they are proves to be difficult, both in terms of stopping them, but also not having an object for her anger.
The book is primarily for the young adult market, but is also perfect for adults looking for a clean read. Book two of the series will be released in the summer of 2016.
