Les Farleyabout this book: This scifi story describes the arrival of an earth ship dubbed The Cicala to it's intended destination three hundred years from earth. As the occupants near what they hope will be their new home the excitement builds. No longer do they view distant stars through their portals; but the other planets in this system that they have so long awaited. Earth's overpopulation and moral decay had made it impossible to enforce laws upon its fifty billion inhabitants and had brought about the need to launch the Cicala Project. Now the time has come. The Cicala is the 'cradle of humanity' and the sights that these people are about to behold will astonish them considering the fact that for generations they had only dwelt within the confines of this ship. Generation after generation had lived and died aboard The Cicala in the silent vacuum of space. For such individuals to be able to put their feet on real soil instead of bare metal almost seems too much to wish for but that is what is about to happen. The decision was made long before these people were born but they will reap the benefits . . . if it is not in vain.
