Linsey Lanierabout this book: "Miranda Steele is one ballsy lady who lives through hard times, has her heart broken and still has room left over for love." Diane Kratz - crime fiction writer
The Miranda's Rights Mystery series features Miranda Steele, a woman with a miserable past who fights her way to happiness and finds it where she least expects it. This book is a romantic suspense about a woman searching for the child that was stolen from her. The title is a play on the Miranda rights that are read to suspects when arrested (Miranda has some skirmishes with the law) and reflects Miranda's abusive husband's assertion that she has no right to her child.
The hero, Wade Parker, is a sexy, wealthy southern gentleman who also happens to be an ace detective and owns a successful investigative firm. I created him from a mixture of Rhett Butler, Roarke from the J.D. Robb books, and George Clooney.
When I began the story that became the first book in the Miranda's Rights Mystery series, I was playing around with the idea of the hero and heroine being opposites. Paranormal novels were coming into vogue, and I was getting interested in mysteries. So I thought of a tough detective as a hero, who only dealt in facts and reality and pairing him with a psychic amateur sleuth.
Miranda Steele isn't exactly a psychic, but she does have a sixth sense when it comes to solving murders. The accuracy of her instincts surprises seasoned private investigator Wade Parker. She gets a chill up the back of her neck, even when there doesn't seem to be any reason for it. She also has a dark past she wrestles with. While Wade Parker likes to deal in facts, he also has a passion for his work that he recognizes in Miranda and that draws him to her.
The romance between Parker and Miranda develops throughout the series, as does Miranda's new career as a PI and the search for her lost daughter.
