Pamela Fosterabout this book: I wrote Redneck Goddess while living in the country of Panama. My husband, who is from South Georgia, had many friends visit during our time in that beautiful tropical country. We also had wonderful Panamanian friends. The collision of these two groups, both of which contain more than their fair share of aristocrats and rednecks, is the basis for this novel. I wrote a family love story, because I believe love is the only healer of wounds, the only way to reconcile differences of opinion.
I made it funny because I've never changed my mind about one single thing because I was preached at. But, when a writer can make me laugh at myself, see myself and my beliefs in the light of humor, well then I have, occasionally, been known to change my mind. This is what I tried to do in this novel. Shine the light of humor on the prejudices we all carry.
