Author Mary Tate Engelsabout this book: Chopper Down in the Grand Canyon is beyond Brit's wildest imagination. What starts as an epic tour becomes a nightmare and a discovery that changes her life. They're lucky to be alive, and she's falling in love with an extraordinary man, a rare breed who teaches about life and love in the canyon, Indian style.

Archeology professor Jake Landry is in the canyon to study the history of the vanished Anasazi. When the touring helicopter crashes near his camp, he is forced to rescue the obnoxious tourists - vivacious Brit Bailey, on her way to make a movie, and a couple of self-absorbed TV stars of their own talk show. Nothing could be further from how Jake planned to spend his sabbatical and he is pushed to his limits. After all, these people know nothing about living in the wild and about how the ancients survived. He wonders how he will endure … until he falls into Brit's arms.

Their love affair mirrors Brit's Great-grandmother's storybook romance, soon to be a movie. She, too, fell in love with an extraordinary Native American man who saved her life. But can they all survive the wilds of the canyon? And will their rescue tear Brit and Jake apart?

From the author - While hiking the canyon, I was struck by its vastness and similarity to a mountaintop. There are miles of smaller canyons and streams that intersect and ramble. The Colorado River flows languidly and then abruptly rages over rapids. The Grand Canyon is not just a huge gaping chasm in the earth. It is breathtakingly beautiful, wildly rugged, and dangerous - a geologist's and archeologist's treasure trove. Even today, the Canyon is home to a remote Native American tribe and contains many ancient Indian ruins. Getting lost is a definite possibility. This story grew from the mysticism of this amazing place in the Southwest. I invite you to walk with me on the wild side of the Grand Canyon.
