Cambridge Onohabout this book: When your kids are starving, you just might do anything for Money. When you have been betrayed by those you trust the most, then it is pretty easy to marry for money and give love the thumbs down. When Payday and Bailiffs are chasing you for debts and you are a lone parent with young children to feed, what does values, religion and morals matter if you can get out of debt doing a job that isn't quite kosher?
Rose Philips finds herself having to make several moral choices when her husband runs off with her best friend, leaving her a very reluctant lone parent, "breeder of under-achievers, social misfits and future criminals". Her family gloat at her downfall, crowing, "We did tell you white guys are weird, didn't we? You can never tell what they'll up and do. One minute it's all love with them, and the next, they're offing you for life insurance. Should've stuck to your own kind, gerl."
Overweight and depressed, Rose (aka "coconut Rose") finally takes some drastic action, which not only sees her back to body beautiful but also rolling in dough. In the process, she begins a torrid affair with her boss, Paul Griffin, the owner of the exclusive Gentlemen's club, where she works as a pole dancer cum hostess. Then her ex-husband comes back to the scene and Rose has some tough decisions to make.
"Anything for Money" is every woman's story, as we all find bits of ourselves in it. We've all experienced love, passion and betrayals, as well as made some tough moral/amoral choices. The sex scenes in the book are somewhat risque and therefore this is strictly adults only contents. As a lone parent, I discovered a lot about myself and my strengths in writing this book. It also made me examine my attitude towards inter-racial romance. I hope my readers will enjoy reading it as I have enjoyed writing it.
