Diana Lesire Brandmeyerabout this book: Writing this book took me out of my office and out on the road. My husband and I spend a lot of time traveling to Chicago and back, and on family vacations. There are so many semi-trucks on the highway and I wondered how do they maintain a family life, when and where do they sleep (the truckers not the trucks--though that would make a great children's story) and how do they get good meals, go to church?
When we were coming home from Tennessee my husband spotted a truck at a rest stop that had Trucker's Church painted on the side. He said, "There's part of your answer. Why don't you write about a mobile church."
Not long after that I discovered a truckstop near my home offered Sunday Services. I took my pastor along with me--all it took was a piece of pie to get him to come. :) We spent some time talking with the pastor that brought church to the truckers.
Research is fun, especially if you get to eat pie.
