Beverley Williamsabout this book: In my many years as a trainer I have learned to always overbook the numbers of participants on a presentation skills training course, I will absolutely guarantee that some people will drop out because of sickness on the day. I don't think for one minute that they aren't ill, the worry about presenting has literally made them ill.
For the people who have no issues whatsoever with standing up in front of others, the 'tricks of the trade' such as ways of emphasising certain key points will be what they will take from this tips booklet; for the people who absolutely dread presenting they will get most from the overcoming nervousness.
I created this tips booklet as a nice take-away from my courses and also as a way to help people who couldn't make a course. It didn't take me too long to get the tips down in writing unless you count the 20 years of making presentations and teaching people how to present!
If there is one thing I want to say to my readers it's 'know your stuff' if people don't prepare properly then they are right to be nervous! People give up their time to listen to you, make it worth their while.
I cannot bear it if presenters embarrass anyone when they are presenting; a little respect for people goes a long way as in all areas of life. It's a great feeling when people appreciate your presentation and let you know that it's been valuable to them; work on the tips that jump out at you and you'll know that feeling too, good luck!
