Darwin C Vickersabout this book: Jonathon Whitecross is an ex-cop turned private detective. After solving an extremely difficult murder case on a Pacific Island he was lauded by newspapers and magazines throughout the world. Soon other small island nations began to request his services and he quickly became known as the " island hopping detective." He enjoys his new role so much, he gradually gave up the boring divorce and insurance cases which were once his bread and butter for murder.
The Green Madonna takes him to a Utopian style community in the mid-Atlantic where an attractive young lady is chief of the two-person police force. The murder he undertakes to solve has some bizarre elements, and the case is made even more difficult by the fact that he has to work beside a woman with the most beautiful legs he's ever seen.
Violence does not make a story and so I try to keep it to a minimum. You'll find that, although Whitecross is tough, he doesn't throw his weight around unless it's really necessary - but when he does - you'd better watch out!
